Fukasa Ryu Karate

 

Seiken/Geri Waza

  • Various punching and kicking techniques that can be executed in both Kata and Kumite contexts.

Uke Waza

  • Blocking techniques that can be executed in both Kata and Kumite contexts.

Kamae

  • various postures or stances.

Kata

  • orchestrated sequences of movements or “forms”. This type of training emphasis on proper execution of techniques with a completely focused mind. These movements are designed for a Karate student to practice repetitious without a partner. Seiken Waza, Geri Waza, Uke Waza and proper Kamae are all encompassed in Kata practice.

Kumite

  • fighting techniques that work from uncontrived attacks. Students are usually paired up based on skill level and execute various techniques they have learned. Combat effectiveness is the primary focus in Kumite.

 

 

 Fukasa Ryu Iai/Ken-Jutsu

 

Iai/Ken Techniques

  1. Learn quick-draw techniques from standing or seated positions with an Iaito (metal blade for practice).
  2. Learn cuts, blocks, parries and evasive moments with an Iaito.

Kata

  1. Learn different single person sword techniques, both in a seated and standing position.  The techniques including proper drawing, cutting and sheathing of the sword that are practiced in a repetitous manner.
  2. Learn various two person sword techniques from both a seated and standing postion.  Striking, blocking, sword take-away, joint locks and throwing techniques are practiced with a partner in a repetitous manner.

Sparring

  • Practice fighting techniques with the use of a bokken.

Tachi-Dori

  •  Sword disarming techniques

Strength training

  • Practice various cuts and stances with the use of a suburito(a heavier wooden sword replica).  Suburito training can also improve speed of different cuts.
